Your brand shoot for your business is coming up next week. There’s so much to do and so little time.

This is an important business investment, and I want to make sure you get the most out of it. You definitely don’t want to walk into your brand photoshoot unprepared.

That only slows things down, and you won’t have the time to get the most variety out of your day.

So, how do you prepare so you don’t miss out on all the looks you want to get out of the shoot?

I’m about to lay out all of my brand shoot prep tips. You’ll leave confident about how to get ready for your upcoming session and get the most out of your day.

My 5 Tips on How to Prep for Your Personal Brand Shoot

1. Get Yourself Pampered For Your Brand Shoot

You’re doing this to impress your clients. You want to look your best when coming to your brand shoot. Get your hair colored, your nails done – whatever you need to do to look absolutely fierce from every angle.

Take advantage of this opportunity to beautify yourself.

  • Make your hair appointment with plenty of time beforehand.
  • Pick a nail color that complements every planned look.
  • Get your eyebrows shaped for super fun close-ups.

Pro Tip: Double check if your personal brand photographer has a hair/makeup team they love working with already and can refer for your brand shoot. If not, be sure to book your own. A professional will do a much tighter job and contribute to a stress-free experience.

2. Take Care of Yourself

Can you imagine waking up on the day of your brand shoot with a cold?! You’ve already shifted around your schedule to make it to your big day. The last thing you want to do is reschedule because of a runny nose.

Eat right and get plenty of sleep.

  • Eat healthy foods, especially in the days leading up to your brand shoot.
  • Drink plenty of water every day.
  • Get the recommended amount of sleep.

Pro Tip: Eat a nice meal the day of your brand shoot, and bring plenty of snacks and water. If you’re “hangry” it will show up on camera.

3. Organize All of Your Things

The last thing you want to do is walk into your brand photoshoot session with everything loosely thrown into your travel bag. Wrinkled clothes and taking 10 minutes to find that one lip gloss hiding at the bottom is not a cute look.

Instead, get all your ducks in a row the night before.

  • Get your props sorted out and packed neatly.
  • Put your full looks together in garment bags (accessories included).
  • Organize your outfits by location.

Pro Tip: Layout your full looks and take pictures of them. You don’t want to think too hard during those quick changes at your brand shoot. Or go a step further and take pictures of yourself wearing each look.

4. Practice Posing

This will go a long way, especially if you’re not used to photoshoots. Get in front of the mirror and find your best angles. You don’t want to be constantly second-guessing what your poses look like on camera. Go online and get inspired by poses that others have used for their brand shoots.

Find out what your best side is to showcase to the camera.

  • Think about your shot locations and practice poses to do in each one.
  • Practice poses that best enhance your body type.
  • Pay attention to what type of movements make you look more natural.

5. Get in the Right Mindset

If you’re a woo-woo protagonist like me, this is a must. Even if you’re not, you may want to be open to this for your brand shoot. It can make all the difference in your confidence level.

Embrace the woo woo and maximize your mindset.

  • Take time to meditate.
  • Say some daily affirmations.
  • Listen to your favorite songs.

Pro Tip: Do these the night before and the day of – if there’s time. You can also jam out to your favorite songs in the car on the way to your brand shoot. I like to let my clients blast their music during the shoot for extra motivation.
